For those not familiar with my title, I quote from an Emily Dickinson poem (I hate plagiarism):
This is my letter to the world,
That never wrote to me,--
The simple news that Nature told,
With tender majesty.
Her message is committed
To hands I cannot see;
For love of her, sweet countrymen,
Judge tenderly of me!
My name is Jennifer Williams. One of the most common names in American. Boring. Yawn-worthy. Thus, I may over-compensate with an abundance of personality.
I am a wife, a mother, and an educator...not always in that order (my poor family). I am an average wife, a pretty damn good mom (I think my teen would generally agree), and a rock star educator.
People have been pushing me for years to blog. I will admit I never understood the point, and I have a weird fear of people stealing my thoughts and words. I may have finally found a reason or reasons:
1. To save my sanity while I deal with lupus and cannot really work full-time.
2. To keep my writing skills from drying up and blowing away. As an ELA teacher, if I cannot write effectively, how can I teach students to write well?
3. I do have a lot to say (in more than 140 character tweets), but I am not tackling this so others will become my disciples. I simply see an importance for me to write my thoughts. Guess this is my modern journal--but I promise not to share too much information. Some things just do not need to be discussed with the world.
That is enough for now. I shall let my future writing speak for me. So, "sweet countrymen, judge tenderly of me!"
